Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi Syariah (JHESy) recognizes that scholarly dialogue and scientific critique do not end upon publication. The journal welcomes constructive, evidence-based commentary on published articles and maintains a formal mechanism for post-publication discussion in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Principles of Transparency and Best Practice.

1. Submitting a Comment

Readers, researchers, and contributing authors may submit a formal scientific critique or commentary on any article published in JHESy through the communication channels listed on the official Journal Contact Page with the subject line "Post-Publication Comment". The submission must include:

  • The full name, institutional affiliation, and official email address of the commenter;
  • The title, volume, issue, and DOI of the published article concerned;
  • The substantive critique itself, strictly focused on scientific and doctrinal content (e.g., legal methodology, fiqh analysis, empirical data, or interpretations), supported by credible scholarly citations and evidence; and
  • A clear declaration of any competing financial or non-financial interests, in accordance with our Conflicts of Interest Policy.

Anonymous submissions, defamatory remarks, personal attacks, or comments unrelated to the scholarly substance of the article will not be considered.

2. Editorial Handling and Assessment

  1. Initial Screening: The Editor-in-Chief acknowledges receipt within 7 working days and determines whether the commentary is substantive, objective, and scholarly.
  2. Author Opportunity to Respond: Substantive comments are forwarded to the corresponding author of the original article, who is granted 30 days to prepare an evidence-based formal response.
  3. Independent Review: Where technical, methodological, or jurisprudential complexity warrants, the Editor may invite independent peer review under the Peer Review Process.
  4. Editorial Decision: The Editor decides whether to publish the comment and the author's reply, or whether further investigative action is required.

3. Publication of Comments

Critiques that provide significant scholarly insight may be published as a Letter to the Editor, alongside the original authors' formal reply, in a subsequent regular issue of JHESy. Published letters and replies are bi-directionally linked to the original published article on the OJS platform.

4. Outcomes Affecting Published Articles

If a post-publication discussion reveals a significant error or inaccuracy, corrective action is taken in strict accordance with the Journal's Withdrawal and Retraction Policy (e.g., formal Correction/Corrigendum, Expression of Concern, or Retraction).

If the discussion raises credible allegations of data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or other ethical violations, the case is investigated under the Research Misconduct Policy and the Publication Ethics Policy.
