Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi Syariah (JHESy) upholds the highest standards of academic publication ethics. By submitting a manuscript, the author declares agreement to all applicable terms and conditions. We only process original works that comply with the principles of scholarly publication. Indications of severe ethical violations may prompt appropriate corrective action by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) of STAI Al Musaddadiyah Garut. We require all authors to stay away from all forms of plagiarism to avoid serious academic and publication ethics consequences. Any legal implications arising from copyright infringement or other legal non-compliance within the manuscript are entirely the responsibility of the author. Authors must ensure that the manuscript has obtained approval from all relevant parties (the author team, supervisors, or funding authorities) before the publication process. The Journal does not bear any liability for compensation if publication is suspended for legal reasons. Although LP2M STAI Al Musaddadiyah Garut strives to facilitate the publication process as efficiently as possible, we are not responsible for any losses arising from delays in online publication.

Authors are expected to comply with the Journal's Copyright Policy and Licensing Policy. Questions relating to copyright ownership, licensing permissions, reuse rights, and distribution conditions shall be governed by those policies.

Compliance Note: These ethical guidelines refer to the global standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which are aligned with the Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scholarly publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Publisher

The journal management plays a managerial and administrative role, which includes:

• Determining the Journal's identity, scope, publication frequency, and accreditation roadmap.
• Formulating the structure of an editorial board competent in their field.
• Drafting the basis of contractual agreements between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other related parties.
• Guaranteeing the confidentiality of the identities and data of all stakeholders (researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers).
• Overseeing the implementation of intellectual property norms, especially copyright protection.
• Evaluating journal policies and communicating them transparently to the public.
• Providing resources and marketing strategies to ensure the sustainability of the publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Editors

The editorial team (editors) is tasked with guarding the quality and objectivity of scientific substance, with the following obligations:

• Striving for systemic and continuous improvement of publication quality to meet the expectations of readers and authors.
• Upholding freedom of expression and making purely objective decisions on manuscript rejection/acceptance.
• Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record of the author's work.
• Publishing corrections, editorial notices, retraction statements, or apologies when necessary.
• Taking full responsibility for compliance with the journal's editorial style (formatting), while affirming that the substantive content is the full authority of the author.
• Being open to new perspectives that may contradict personal views, and preventing bias from any party that could disrupt the objectivity of the assessment.
• Proactively encouraging authors to make substantive improvements to the manuscript until it meets the standards for publication.
• Complying with the Journal's AI Policy and ensuring that AI tools are not used in ways that compromise confidentiality, reviewer anonymity, editorial independence, or publication integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are the main pillar in maintaining scientific validity, with the following responsibilities:

• Conducting peer reviews professionally as a basis for editors in determining the manuscript's suitability for publication.
• Declaring conflicts of interest and declining review assignments if they have direct or indirect ties to the manuscript.
• Upholding the principle of manuscript confidentiality by not leaking drafts, improvement suggestions, or assessment recommendations to external parties.
• Providing constructive criticism and motivating authors to improve manuscript quality.
• Completing the evaluation on time based on valid scientific methods, while taking into account compliance with the Journal's editorial style.
• Complying with the Journal's AI Policy and refraining from uploading confidential manuscripts, review materials, or editorial documents into generative AI systems.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Authors bear full responsibility for the originality and validity of their work, which includes:

• Ensuring all individuals listed as authors truly meet the criteria as contributors.
• Being accountable for all manuscript components, from methodology and data analysis to the elaboration of conclusions, collectively.
• Honestly declaring funding sources, sponsors, and potential conflicts of interest.
• Objectively explaining the research limitations within the manuscript.
• Responding to input and revisions from reviewers and editors responsively, professionally, and promptly.
• Submitting a formal request to the editor if intending to withdraw a manuscript that is currently being processed.
• Ensuring that research involving human participants has obtained the necessary informed consent and, where required, institutional ethics approval prior to submission.
• Signing a declaration that the manuscript is original work that has never been published in any media and is not currently under review in another journal.

Complaint Handling Mechanism

The management of JHESy takes every complaint related to the editorial process, alleged publication ethics violations, or indications of code of ethics violations by the editorial board or reviewers very seriously.

• Every complaint must be submitted in writing through the communication channels listed on the Journal Contact Page.
• We will acknowledge receipt of the report and conduct a confidential, fair, and objective internal investigation, adopting the standard COPE procedures.
• We are committed to resolving disputes in the shortest possible time and conveying the final results of the investigation transparently to the reporter.

Editorial Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written appeal to the Editor-in-Chief within 30 days of the decision being communicated.

Appeals may relate to:

• desk rejection decisions;
• peer review outcomes;
• editorial evaluations;
• manuscript rejection decisions;
• AI-related editorial determinations;
• other editorial judgments affecting publication eligibility.

The appeal must clearly explain the basis for reconsideration and provide supporting evidence where appropriate.

Appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or, whenever feasible, by another editor who was not primarily responsible for the original decision.

The Journal may seek additional expert opinions, editorial board consultation, or independent peer review when necessary.

Submission of an appeal does not guarantee reconsideration or reversal of the original decision. The Journal's decision following appeal review shall be final.

Editorial appeals are distinct from complaints involving publication misconduct, conflicts of interest, reviewer conduct, ethical violations, procedural irregularities, or other integrity concerns. Such matters shall be handled in accordance with the Complaint Handling Mechanism and applicable publication ethics procedures.

Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence

The Journal recognises the legitimate use of AI-assisted technologies while maintaining human accountability for scholarly work. Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial team must comply with the Journal's AI Policy. Undisclosed or unethical AI use may constitute publication misconduct. Possible sanctions include revision requests, rejection, withdrawal, correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on severity.

Post-Publication Corrections and Integrity Safeguards

To preserve the integrity of the scholarly record, the Journal may issue corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, replacements, or other editorial notices as appropriate. Removal is used only in extraordinary legal cases or serious risks in accordance with the Journal's Withdrawal and Retraction Policy and COPE guidance.
