Submission Checklist
Before initiating the manuscript submission process, authors are required to read and ensure that the submitted work meets all the requirements below. Non-compliance with these guidelines may result in the manuscript being returned or rejected before entering the review stage.
- 1. Main Manuscript Readiness
The manuscript must be written in formal Indonesian or English with good and correct grammar. Ensure spelling and diction are used consistently throughout the manuscript. Authors are strongly advised to perform comprehensive proofreading before submission to accelerate the editorial process. JHESy only accepts manuscript submissions online via the OJS platform.
- 2. Document Format and Layout
The manuscript must be compiled according to our journal's editorial style standards. Ensure the manuscript has been adjusted to the JHESy Template (Download Template Here). The document must be uploaded in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx), OpenOffice (.odt), or RTF format.
- 3. Article Categories
The journal accepts three manuscript categories as detailed in our Types of Manuscripts policy:
- Original Research Articles: Empirical field studies, socio-legal inquiries, or normative-juridical analyses presenting primary data or legal findings.
- Theoretical/Conceptual Articles: Original development of new theoretical frameworks, conceptual models, or critical evaluations of literature, regulations, and fatwas in Islamic commercial jurisprudence.
- Case Studies: In-depth examinations of specific sharia legal disputes, court or arbitration rulings, or institutional practices in Islamic financial and business institutions.
- 4. Originality Validation (Plagiarism)
The journal applies plagiarism screening procedures and similarity assessment standards as described in the Plagiarism Policy.
- 5. AI Disclosure Requirement
Use of AI for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic reference formatting does not require disclosure. Use of AI for substantive translation, paraphrasing, restructuring, summarisation, argument development, data analysis, programming, visualisation, or any material change to the manuscript must be disclosed in accordance with the AI Policy.
- 6. Statement of Originality, Copyright, and Publishing Rights
By submitting the manuscript, the author declares that the work is original, has never been published before, and is not under evaluation in another journal or publisher (except in the form of an abstract or a thesis/dissertation). In accordance with our open access policy, authors retain full copyright and publishing rights without restrictions, granting the right of first publication to JHESy under the CC BY-ND 4.0 license.
- 7. Peer Review Policy
All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial editorial screening and a rigorous double-blind peer review process. For complete details regarding the review stages, timelines, and appeal mechanisms, please refer to the Peer Review Process.
- 8. Author Distribution Policy
Authors may distribute, archive, or publicly share their work only after the article has been formally published by Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi Syariah. Before publication, manuscripts under editorial evaluation, peer review, revision, or production may not be publicly deposited, distributed, or posted in repositories, academic networking sites, personal websites, or other public platforms without prior permission from the Journal obtained through the Contact Page. This policy is intended to preserve the integrity of the double-blind peer review process, prevent version confusion, and ensure the authenticity of the scholarly record. After publication, authors may deposit and distribute the published article in accordance with the Repository Policy, Copyright Policy, and Licensing Policy.
- 9. Galley Proofs (Author Proofs) and Access Availability
The final layout draft (galley proofs) in PDF format will be sent to the corresponding author via email for approval. At this stage, authors are only permitted to make corrections for typographical errors (typo) or minor layout adjustments; substantive content revisions are no longer allowed. Once the manuscript is officially published, authors and the public are granted full freedom to download, print, and distribute the article without any charges (free).
- 10. Author Responsibility After Publication
Submission obligations continue after publication. Authors must cooperate with editorial investigations concerning:
- plagiarism;
- authorship disputes;
- data integrity;
- ethical concerns;
- AI-related issues;
- legal complaints.
Relevant actions shall follow the Withdrawal and Retraction Policy, the Research Misconduct Policy, and the Post-Publication Discussion mechanism.
