Plagiarism Policy
The Editorial Board of Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi Syariah (JHESy) considers plagiarism to be a serious violation of publication ethics. Therefore, we have established the following policy, detailing the specific actions and penalties if plagiarism or redundant publication is identified in any submitted or published article.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the intentional or unintentional act of obtaining or attempting to obtain credit for a scientific work by quoting part or all of another party's work without proper and adequate citation of the original source.
Originality and Plagiarism Screening
- All articles must be strictly original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Material taken directly from other sources must be clearly identified (e.g., using quotation marks and proper citations) to distinguish it from the original text.
- JHESy uses reputable plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or Plagiarism Checker X, or similar tools to screen all submitted manuscripts for similarity before the review process.
- The maximum acceptable similarity index is 25% (excluding bibliography, quoted text, and small matches/less than 1%).
Procedures and Sanctions
If plagiarism is identified at any stage, the Editor-in-Chief will review the case and apply actions based on the severity of the offense, strictly adhering to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines:
- Minor Plagiarism: The author will be issued a warning, and the manuscript will be returned with a request to revise the text and apply proper citations.
- Major Plagiarism: The submitted manuscript will be immediately rejected. The author(s) may face further sanctions, including being blacklisted from publishing in Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi Syariah.
- Simultaneous Submission / Redundant Publication: If an author is proven to have submitted a manuscript to other journals simultaneously, the manuscript will be immediately rejected, and the penalty outlined in point 2 will be applied.
Author Responsibility
All authors bear full responsibility for the content of their submitted articles and are required to sign a Statement of Originality. In cases where an article is classified as plagiarism, all co-authors will be subject to the same penalties.
